Leptospirosis – a disease of an infectious nature, the causative agents of which are various representatives of leptospira (belong to the family spirochete). The most common types of leptospirosis are:
- Veil-Vasiliev syndrome (spirochaetal jaundice);
- Water fever (no manifestations of jaundice);
Manifestation of symptoms of the disease
From the time of infection and until the onset of symptoms, it can take from 2 days to 2.5 weeks. The onset of the disease is characterized by hyperthermia, severe muscle pain (especially in the calf muscles), headaches and chills. In rare cases, cough may develop with or without blood. A few days after the onset of symptoms, the patient has an eye conjunctiva.
For leptospirosis, there are two periods with hyperthermia: when the first symptoms appear, fever lasts from 4 to 10 days, then appears between 6 and 12 in the afternoon from the onset of the disease. At this time, meningitis develops, which is dangerous to become comatose.
In the Veil-Vasiliev syndrome, one of the main complications is the disruption of blood coagulability, and as a consequence – the risk of serious blood loss. In addition, within a week the normal functioning of the liver, spleen and kidneys (blood in the urine) is disrupted. If a leptospira affects a pregnant woman, this leads to a miscarriage.
Treatment of leptospirosis
When leptospirosis is detected, antibiotics of the penicillin group are prescribed and blood coagulability is controlled. In addition, drugs for detoxification are recommended, and the functioning of internal organs is monitored. Infected patients do not carry a threat to other people, because the infection is not transmitted from person to person.
Antibiotic therapy with drug Amoxil
Among the antibiotics of the penicillin series, Amoxil showed good performance. Its peculiarity is that it is active in oral administration in the same way as other representatives of this type of antibiotic when injected. This makes Amoxil convenient to use and is more economical. Amoxil can be order online, which is much cheaper than buying a drug at a pharmacy.
Side effects on the background of taking Amoxil
This drug may not be suitable for people who are sensitive to the antibiotics of the penicillin group. In this case, allergic reactions occur in the form of rashes, edema of the nose, tearing of the eyes, and in extremely rare cases – anaphylactic shock.
